Objectives of the Track at the 36th HL7 FHIR Connectathon

The aim of this track, in a sequence of a multiyear effort, is to test the creation, exchange and display of electronic Product information (ePI) in connection to the International Patient Summary (IPS) and IDMP.

In particular, the track is part of the HL7 Vulcan Accelerator supported by the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) Gravitate Health Project, the EU funded UNICOM project, WHO/UMC, EMA, and FDA. Thus, aligns with the European Medicines Agency’s ePI pilot project, FDA’s SPL-to-FHIR project, EMA’s SPOR, and the Global IDMP Working Group (GIDWG) initiative on End-to-End use cases.

Standards development is supported by the HL7 BR&R working group.

Objective of this track within the 36th HL7 FHIR Connectathon in Dallas Texas, on May 18-19, 2024, is to test and gather feedback on the following:

  • ePI Governance: Define joint profiles and governance model between EMA, Gravitate Health and Vulcan
  • ePI style sheet: Create and test a final draft of a default style sheet for ePIs
  • ePI Capability: Define basic API functionality requirements
  • Connectathon Roadmap: Define objectives for the next 4 connectathons (including IDMP testing)
  • PhPID IG: Test and clarify API capability, profiles and resources to support the end-to-end request process
  • ANVISA: Incorporate Brazilian scenarios and data into ePI and IDMP testing

The 36th Connectathon takes place only on-site, in Dallas, TX.
